"Art does not reproduce the visible;
rather, it makes visible."
—Paul Klee
The United States has a magnificent National Parks and Monuments network, administered by the National Park Service. This network preserves wild and natural habitats for future generations of humans and for posterity. Yellowstone National Park is our oldest such park. Many of our national parks and monuments are located in the western part of the U.S. The photographs here have been made during recent years as I have been fortunate to visit many of our public lands. Those of us who live in or near the western United States are very fortunate to have so much public land available for our enjoyment and edification. We can see geologic wonders, the results of ancient and ongoing erosion by natural waterways as well as ancient lakes and inland seas.
Humans have attempted to preserve ecosystems and aid in restoration of lands and animals which once inhabited these wild places. The following images represent slices of the wondrous places I have had the privilege of visiting and photographing.
Enjoy and visit them when you can.
